Zhejiang Lin'an Tea Factory, known overseas as Lin'an Zhejiang Tea Industrial
Corporation, was set up in 1970 and is currently one of the few large-sized tea
factories in China.
Lin'an, where the factory is located, is a city with well-developed transportation
systems and convenient telecom facilities, 200 kilometers south-west of Shanghai. It is a
satellite city of Hangzhou-capital of Zhejiang Province (the primary tea producing
province in China).
It has its location in the very center of China's most important tea yielding region
Zhejiang, Anhui, and Jiangxi provinces, which accounts for nearly 90% of China's total
green tea export, or nearly 70% of the world's green tea sales volume.
Some facts of the factory are presented as follows:
|
It covers an area of 71,300 m2 with a construction area of 46,200 m2.
|
|
It has assets of 105 million yuan RMB (about USD 12.6 million), with about 50 million
yuan RMB in fixed assets (including over 1000 pieces of tea-making equipment). |
|
It has four processing workshops which are designed to sort out raw tea and process it
into all grades of refined tea. The annual processing capacity is 15,000 tons. |
|
It has two modern specialized blending lines which take different amounts of the
same-grade teas refined from different seasonal pickings and origins, and blend them into
various grades of finished teas according to the state standards and the client's
confirmed samples. The quality of such blended teas can be kept unchanged for one or even
more years. The regular blending capacity is more than 25,000 tons a year, which is
equivalent to a quarter of the total annual demand on the world green tea market. |
|
It has two 120K production lines which were import from Japan in 1996. They can start
with fresh tea leaves and produce 400 tons of Japanese-style steamed green tea annually. |
|
It has a technical force of 69 people, in addition to 200 skilled workers and hundreds
of seasonal workers. |
|
Good management and strict observance of ISO9000 regulations in quality control have
combined to bring a good reputation to the factory. All these years, it has obtained Fine
Quality Award from the Ministry of Commerce, and has been cited as one of the Top 100
Enterprises under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and as Enterprise of AAA Quality by the
Agricultural Bank of China and Communications Bank of China. Since 1987, the factory has
been the holder of the Inspector Certificate issued by the China Import & Export
Commodity Inspection Bureau. |
|
Being a partnership enterprise, the factory has a lighter financial burden than most
state-run factories and enjoys full decision-making rights. It can deal with its clients
directly without any intermediary and gives immediate response to various market demands.
As a result, it can assure the clients of punctual delivery, guaranteed quality and
quantity. |

|
On March 1, 1997, the factory was approved by the Chinese government as the first of
its kind in Zhejiang province to have the right to export tea directly and received the
licenses to export. As a result, an International Trading Department with several salesmen
who speak English, French and Russian has been set up in Hangzhou (No. 27 Shengfu road).
Since 1997's summer, tea exported directly by the factory has made its appearance in
international market.
In fact, Zhejiang Lin'an Tea Factory is not new to international tea market. Ever since
1970, it has been an important tea supplier for China Tea Import & Export Corporation,
China TUHSU Shanghai (Zhejiang, Guangdong, Yunnan, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangxi) Tea Import
& Export Corporation. The total export tea supplied by the factory has reached over
150,000 tons.
The factory now produces over 100 different kinds and grades of teas, ranging from Mee
Tea, Gunpowder Tea, Steamed Green Tea, Jasmine Tea to Organic Green Tea, Basket-fired
Green Tea and other famous quality teas.
